Benjamin Franklin realized that lightning is discharged from the clouds during a thunderstorm. In 1752 Franklin did the experiment thanks to the help of his son William Franklin. When the thunderstorm, started both Franklin and his son went into a shed, flew a kite high in the air and brought a electric charge down the wet sting of the kite, but Franklin saw that the kite’s loose threads were standing up, so he put his knuckle on a key that was at the end of the string and saw a electric spark. Because of the experiment, Franklin was able to prove that lightning is electricity. Also Franklin was able to discovered many things about electricity that people didn’t know before him.
