Beowulf a Hero
Since we are born, we are exposed to a monotonous amount of media figures that have one single purpose; to be an inspiration. Most of these figures are what we know as “super-heroes.” And even though there is a strict stereotype of a super hero, the truth is that heroes come in different styles and sizes. In the Anglo-Saxon epic, Beowulf, written by an anonymous person during the 8th century, the main character called Beowulf fights against hideous monsters to save a kingdom from doom. Throughout his adventures, he demonstrates that a super hero don´t always needs to wear a cape in order to be considered one. Along this epic, Beowulf displays accurate characteristics of a perfect Anglo-Saxon hero through his strength, indifference about death and selflessness. Beowulf is full of bravery thanks to his lack of concern of his own death. This trait is perceived through his actions. For example, he takes the initiative to fight against various monsters that have threatened Herot for a long time.
