As a PACE participant I have learned lots of ideas from the seminar lessons and tried to incorporate lots of those ideas into my lesson I teach in my classroom. When I first started teaching I had some idea what I was doing, at least I thought I did until I started PACE. With PACE I have learned a lot about best practice, differentiated instruction, and curriculum integration. This paper will explain how I tried to incorporate these instructional elements in my lesson regarding the state standard of creating a document using Microsoft Word. In this project my students had to list three careers. One career had to be something they felt they want to be when they grow up. The second career had to be a second choice of what they think they may want to be when they grow up. The third had to be a career dealing with military services. After they came up with the three careers I had them find the average salary of those careers with 10 years’ experiences. Then the students were asked to graph those salaries using Excel. After they completed the graph I ask them to brainstorm a job you can get without a college or military background. We came up with one for the class to use and then I had them create another graph but this time they had to include the job without the college or military background. Then I had the students explain their finding in a paragraph using Microsoft Word. They loved it and most of them started talking about how they were going to do better in high school so they can go to college to make more money. I love this project because they were doing math by adding the graph and interrupting what the graph
