It is my great honor to write this letter of recommendation for Ms. Bethany Matsick. I have had the privilege of knowing her for the past three years as her high school swim coach. Bethany is an amazing young lady who has razor sharp focus and superior work ethic. Bethany is an excellent student; her grades speak for themselves. The diverse and rigorous course selection that she has compiled is very indicative of her curious and eager-to-learn attitude. Bethany is mature beyond her years in her behavior, actions, and views. Bethany is a swimmer that every coach wants on his/her team. She is a very good swimmer, but what sets her apart is her work ethic and team-first attitude. Bethany attends every practice: mandatory and optional, early morning or afternoon. She does not just put in the time, she pushes herself every day in every set; she never takes a set off. Her “lead by example” attitude does not go unnoticed, and was a big reason why her teammates voted her captain of the swim team her senior year. She works as a swim instructor at the local YMCA eight hours every week and as a lifeguard 30 hours a week in the summer. She is very involved in her church and serves as a leader for elementary aged girls. Bethany is also a member of a drama team at her church. After attending a performance this past summer, I can attest to the high degree of professionalism that the skits have and to the leadership that Bethany takes in the performance. Bethany also has world-wide volunteer experience. She has attend two 2-week mission trips to Cambodia to teach local churches puppeteering skills.
