Betsy Ross Audio Tour On Monday October 19, 2015 I participated in the Audio Tour at the Betsy Ross House. I have never been to this museum before, and have heard a lot of mixed opinions about this museum in particular. I was curious to see this museum for myself keeping in mind other opinions. While there is no specific mission statement one can gather that this historic site is meant to preserve, and explain Betsy Ross, and the creation of the first American Flag. There is a small room where visitors can walk, and stand to get a deeper look at what is inside her bedroom. This room has a one small doorway for entering, and exiting. Which also is also closely placed to another set of stair that lead down. Beside this room being very compact for large crowds, it also seems like a big fire hazard. During my visit I spent roughly 2-3 minutes trying to get out of that space, to go down the stairs. One was near the the gun that went along with Betsy also being a gun maker. It explained how to make a gun, and the visitor can choose which option to see if they are right or wrong. The second was in the kitchen where you could choose between tea, coffee, or chocolate underneath it would tell what supporter you were in politics. These interactives are definitely several years old, and while are cute for adolescents they could use updating. I feel like if they were updated to digital it would make adults want to participate as well. I also find that these interactives blend in, and most visitors will not pick them up to explore.
Thinking of the speculations that surround this museum; I found that the museum tries to focus more on Betsy life, and the history of the time period. Weather the speculations are true or false I do believe that it is still a relevant site since she is still apart of every history book. Regardless of these speculations it is still an educational environment that discusses a turning point in the history of
