One cold spring morning in the fourth grade, we arrived at school at 6:00am. We walked through the door at McDole Elementary School in Montgomery, Illinois. I was excited for big day ahead of me we were going to Springfield! The whole fourth grade students and parents were all packed in the lunch room waiting for the buses to arrive at school so we could head to our first stop in Springfield. A few months before we left on our trip to springfield we spent most of our time after lunch in the afternoon in social studies/science time learning tons about the president Abraham Lincoln. We had giant packets all about Abe Lincoln, and our class made journals from the point of view of Abraham Lincoln and we put coffee on them to make them look old. Our group walked through a bunch of rooms filled with wax figures, pictures, weapons, etc. We walked into a giant play house type of room filled with old toys and dress up clothes. Meghan and I dressed up, and she was a confederate soldier and I was a union soldier and our mom was snapping away on her camera taking pictures of us. Our tour ended with a movie, it was very interesting and filled with information. We finally made our way to Lincoln's tomb. It was a long drive and we entered a cemetery with wide open gates, and the bus was winding through the curvy road that lead to the tomb. The bus passed tons of tombstones then we come around the corner and this giant statue and this steeple that probably was at least 10 feet tall. They parked the bus and we took pictures around the statue in front of the tomb. As we walked inside we saw statues at every corner and we finally came to the very spot where Abraham Lincoln lay under feet and feet of concrete. On the other side of the wall we saw where his family
