Some people think school should be year round, I strongly agree with this. People will get to see their friends more often. Also, a less chance of students forgetting info. Lastly, students would have more free time throughout the year. This is why school all year round is a great idea.
Year-round schooling can cause students to become more stressed out versus traditional schooling. As we have seen the different pros and cons, I would like to firmly state that public year-round schooling shouldn’t be implemented in our education system. I do not believe in it for our current generation or any future ones. Many students do not need the strict structure of year-round schooling, as they are becoming increasingly smarter. Year-round schooling, like many other ideas, has its pros and cons but can be steadily confirmed as ineffective.
After reading, ¨Say No To Year-Round Schooling¨ by Nick Castillino. I was convinced th having a summer break would be better for the kids. Amy said, kids who are struggling in school wouldn't have to go to summer schools anymore, it would be hard for kids to have such a long attention span, and it would cost too much for the school districts. In Amy MacDonald's article she said,¨Children who are struggling in school would no longer have to go to summer school.¨ But I think that if kids have to go to summer school during their breaks, It is a good lesson for the kids to do well in school so they do not have to go to summer school.
Year round school benefit is for a child not to have a lapse in learning or remembering what they’ve learned. That’s when the parents or guardians need’s to step in to continue educational learning. Teachers alone can’t be responsible for the education others need to play their part. Just because summer vacation has started doesn’t mean learning should have stopped. Since year round schooling isn’t what’s normal adjusting could be difficult.
Whether Florida should go to year-round school is a new topic. Schools should not go to year-round school because teachers may not be able to find a babysitter and teachers don’t have time to tidy up. Even though year-round school helps kids remember what they learned schools should not go to year-round school. First teachers might not be able to find a babysitter for younger kids.
When considering the choice of whether, schools should convert to year round schooling or not, the choice should definitely be schools should not convert to year round schooling. A few reasons schools should not convert to year round schooling is because students can even forget something they learned, in a short period of time, and then the teachers would have to reteach the same topic, which is extremely frustrating. The students would also spend less time with their family, because they don’t have the traditional summer break. Not only that, but it causes parents more stress to have to plan ahead of time for how they were going to take care of their children whenever they had breaks (which were very frequent). If this claim is not listened to, teachers teach the same thing repeatedly, family bonds weaken, it disrupts parents work, and it risks the child’s safety.
My school system wants to make year round school possible, and this is an improbable idea. Year round school with longer breaks will help students be less bored, not forget information, and have more free time. When I return from summer break, I can’t even remember what 2 + 2 is! Summer break is too long and school should be year round with longer breaks throughout the year. We all know the terrible feeling of having nothing to do.
“The very thought of sending kids to school year-round makes some parents cringe” (Scholastic). In year-round school, schools continue to operate a hundred and eighty days per year, but they stretch out the hundred and eighty days over the entire year and take shorter breaks between each term. Year-round schools have become increasingly common, both as an academic improvement strategy and as a solution to student and teacher burnout. Student and teacher burnout is when the student or teacher is highly stressed or completely exhausted. Year-round schooling is not necessarily the same as expanded learning time.
Most students enjoy summer vacation, but some educators feel that the summer break is too long and that students do not retain information as easily when they return in the fall. Some people argue that there should be year-round schools, where there would be a 3–4 week break in the summer, a longer winter break, and a week off in the spring and fall. Does this sound like a good idea to you? Why or why not? Take a position on the issue.
By Kayla Cherry My opinion on year round school is that it is unnecessary because why would teachers need to teach all this information within only one or two months. When the kids get too overwhelmed? “Study Finds” says that students from year round school have about the same grades as the people that don't go to year round schools. So i think that if they get the same grades anyways and if they learn the same, than why do we even need it? I feel like student should have summer break, it's the time when you can explore, it's the time you find more friends and interests, it even the time when you can just be active.
Year-Round Schooling A study from the 2011-2012 school year concluded that there were up to as many as 3,700 schools that operated on the year round schedule (Year-Round Schooling). Currently, a majority of schools run on the typical schedule where there is three months worth of summer vacation. With this schedule, there is a major gap where information is typically lost, possibly resulting in possible degrading academics. Year long schooling should be implemented in schools as it allows for students to retain a larger portion of information leading to improved academics on this set schedule. With year round schooling, students are less likely to forget information, where the dropout rate reduces significantly.
Having a year-round school can allow students continually practice and build up their skills that will benefit them in the future. During the school, year-round the students will get
Finally, another drawback is that without summer break, there will be a financial toll. In a newspaper article titled “Year Round Schooling Explained”, it says, “Tourism and other industries that count on summer vacationers might suffer. High schoolers might be less able to get summer jobs.” This could end up causing a big financial problem for a lot of people. To conclude, the benefits and drawbacks of year-round schooling are about equal.
According to studies, only 10-15% of people retain the information that they learned in the previous year of school. Students have an increase in their stress levels when they feel as if they don’t know what they are learning or don’t remember what they learned. Many kids lose valuable information through long summer breaks. Year-round schooling is the apex of the educational timeline. Schools should be converted to a year-round calendar due to the many positive effects it has for students.
Although, year round students will on average attend about nine more days of school per year than students on a traditional calendar (Zubrzycki). Even though year round schools are rising in popularity in most places, they aren’t everywhere. An example of a place they are decreasing in popularity is in the Los Angeles school district (Zubrzycki). All of their schools were changed to a year round school schedule starting in the mid 1980s (Zubrzycki). Today only one school still remains on the year round schedule because it was less effective for learning and hard on students
