Billy Bibbit, 31, of Oregon, passed away December 4, 1958 as a result of injuries sustained in a suicidal attempt. He was born December 5, 1927 in Portland, the son of Mary and Paul Bibbit. He attended Beverly Cleary School and graduated from Grant High School in 1945, where he was awarded with the gold academic award. He was emitted into a Mental Hospital, by choice, in 1950. Billy was a shy but a proud man, many that knew him describe him as nice, hard trying, and beautiful.
Bethel Baptist Church never encountered a challenge like this before. The church accepted an invitation to participate in a mission in Shawnee, Oklahoma. Making an appearance in a foreign environment terrified both adolescents and adults. Even with those uneasy feelings, the congregation quickly zeroed in on the goal at hand in spreading God’s love to this needy region. With events such as church cleanup, food ministry, and disaster relief, the church left with a greater appreciation of life, and how lucky many of the citizens in the United States truly are.

It was formed when a drunk driver was driving the wrong way on University Parkway and hit a car, filled with three Reitz students, head on. Two were badly injured and my brother, Logan Brown, was killed. From that horrific event Logan’s Promise was formed.

I volunteered at Mother Hubbard's Cupboard, an emergency food pantry, in Wilmington, North Carolina from 2012-2016. Throughout my four years of service, I learned how to handle almost all of the jobs available to volunteers, including packing packages for families with a stove or no-stove individuals, teaching new volunteers about the Cupboard and the jobs available, checking patrons in at the front desk, preparing hygiene supply packages for patrons, and working at various tables in the front to distribute various additional food to patrons. I am interested in serving on the Feed the Pack Leadership Team because I want to expand the overall impact and efficiency of Feed the Pack. Firstly, one of the most beneficial events in shaping myself was attending the National Student Leadership Conference. Hundreds of students are chosen annually for their outstanding leadership qualities within their communities. During the one and half week camp, students not only focus on improving their leadership qualities, but also get hands on experience in the field of their choice.
