Billy the kid, also known as William H. Bonney, was an outlaw in the wild west. He was best known for his gun fighting and being a thief. The Kid had been on the run basically his whole life and he also participated in New Mexico’s Lincoln County war which was between the ranchers and the merchants. Billy didn’t have a very easy childhood which may be the reason he was so brutal and killed. There’s been many controversies to how and whom killed Billy the kid. This paper will prove that Pat Garrett was the one who killed Billy the kid. I am going to start with the life of Billy then proceed to Pat Garrett and his involvements in Mexico at this time and finally end my paper focusing on the conflict between Billy and Pat Garrett proving he is the one who killed Billy. Billy the kid was born in the late 1860’s his mother is Catherine McCarty which was diagnosed with tuberculosis …show more content…

This fight had rapidly became violent and bloody. Sheriff Brady’s crew which also had close ties to Dolan, had brutally murdered Tunstall. After Tunstall was murdered His men including Billy had wanted revenge so they got revenge by killing sheriff Brady and a few other men. Shortly after that Billy the Kid had gotten a reputation as a Dangerous Sharpshooter with an itchy trigger finger. He was wanted for murder. It has been said that Billy had killed 21 people during all of his criminal activity. Sheriff Garrett had found Billy the Kid and sentenced him to death but not long after he had been imprisoned he had escaped, killed his jail guard and also shot a deputy.Garrett had sent out a prose to capture or kill Billy the Kid. Billy was at an old friend's house known as Pete Maxwell. The Kid had been staying there and was in one of the rooms. Pat Garrett showed up and went into the room which he had believed Billy was in, shot and killed by Pat Garrett
