An example of this is from the reading “SantaLand Diaries” where David realized that life was not going as expected. He is thirty –three years old and applying for an elf job. He tries to imagine a whole new world where he is able succeed and accomplish his dreams within three weeks of being in New York. This film presents us with a multitude of kinds and intensities of humor which grab the audiences’ attention. There are moments within the film that cover all ends of the spectrum from droll to dry or even uproarious humor. An example of droll can be the tracheotomy scene, whereas Mullins continuously mocking the albino illustrates a more uproarious scene. Throughout the film there are a variety of conflicts and challenges that get resolved ultimately leading to the happy ending.

Cuba and Americas severed relations affected Cuba in more way than one. Due to Castro, Cuba became the first communist country in not only the Caribbean but the entire Western Hemisphere. During the 1970s Castro visited Chile and was actively involved politically. He held rallies in an effort to try and Chile to follow the same path as Cuba and become a communist country . After leaving an influence in Chile, Castro moved to Africa to try and create new allies.
Billy Wilder’s critically acclaimed 1950 tragic noir classic “Sunset Boulevard” is often quoted as being “darkest film-noir”. The film tells the story of the seedy underbelly of Hollywood, showcasing the true psychological price of fame, greed, lavishness, and egocentricity. The atmosphere is recognized early in the film when the audience discovers the narration originates from a man floating in a pool, dead. Centered among the dark themes of the film, is what can be called a doomed love story. The film fuses reality and dreams together to demonstrate the tainted influence of Hollywood.
All of these touchy subjects use humor as a mechanism to cope, allowing humor to tell a sad story. A prominent example in the story was Brod. “[Brod] had to satisfy herself with the idea of love—loving the loving of things whose existence she didn't care at all about. Love itself became the object of her love” (80). She had experienced many life difficulties and hardships which contributed to her hopelessness of finding and having love.
The crime drama ‘Heat’ (Mann) tells the story of a criminal, Neil, and a cop, Vincent. One is content, calm, and has a budding love interest. The other is unhappy, brash, and is at the end of his third marriage. In any other movie, the first description would describe Vincent and the second would describe the Neil. ‘Heat’ flips these roles and makes the criminal act like a cop and the cop act criminal.
“Some like it hot” was made in 1959 and directed by Billy Wilder. The story goes about two musicians, Joe and Jerry, who witness a gangster shooting. To save their lives from the gangsters they flee. To make sure they will not be recognised they disguise themselves as women musicians and become Josephine and Daphne. While they are going to Miami in an all-women band, their original plan was to go to Miami and them leave the woman band they decide to stay with them.
One of the most valuable aspects of personality is humor – we value one’s sense of humor and make friends often based on finding certain things funny. But how and why do we consider things to be funny at all? Human beings have strived to uncover fundamental truths about human nature for centuries – even millennia – but humor itself is still yet to be pinpointed. Henri Bergson is only one of many who has attempted this feat, and his essay Laughter: an essay on the meaning of the comic from 1911 breaks down comedy into what he believes to be its essential forms and origins. While Bergson makes many valid points, Charlie Chaplin’s film Modern Times that was brought to screens only twenty years later seems to contradict many of Bergson’s theories, while Bergson seems to contradict even himself over the course of his essay.

It is one of Ringplay and Ceibo productions’ latest and most heart-wrenching dramas. It provides a host of parody, humor and tragedy on a fictional Caribbean society, I-Land. Strachan dedicates the theatrical piece to his former student of C.I Gibson, Marcian Scott, who was brutally brought to his demise in his driveway by a convict out on bail, in 2006. Gun Boys Rhapsody investigates the impact of crime and violence on the youth of the Bahamian society.
