Some of the major differences between being an assembler at Bach Incorporated and Biomedical Engineering are the environment, duties, and requirements. The environment at Bach Inc. would cause a shut down in a biomedical lab, and the duties differ for the consumers who will be affected by either product. The requirements needed are also different, because without school, being a Biomedical Engineer is just a dream. Looking at the environment of an assembler at Bach Inc. and a biomedical engineer is like looking at day and night. Bach Inc. is a cactus garden souvenir production place. This means there is soil everywhere. The room can be cleaned spotless, but come the next day, there is a thick layer of dust. Whereas, in a biomedical lab, everything must be cleaned and sterilized; if protocol is not followed, the lab could get shut down and/or fined. Cleanliness is not a big deal when lives are not at risk, on the other hand it is of the utmost importance in a medical facility. Basic agriculture is what is needed to work at Bach Inc., and an example would be knowing the difference between a burnt cactus and a cactus that is losing nutrients. The Biomedical Engineering field requires employees to know Biology, Chemistry, and Physics. Engineering is basic and minimal at Bach Inc. Making boxes, fixing ripped cardboard boxes, and a few basic tasks. Biomedical Engineering does require a Bachelor’s degree, “Bachelor’s degree programs in biomedical engineering focus on engineering and biological sciences.” (BLS.org 2014) Bach Inc. does not require any secondary education. Biomedical Engineers must have at least a Biomedical Equipment Technician certificate, a Bachelor's, and possibly some on-site training.
