Black Panther Party For Defense Bobby Seale and Huey Newton created the “Black Panther Party For Defense” in Oakland, California in October 1966. They were a progressive political organization formed to fight for minorities and to establish socialism and community based programs for African-Americans and all racial or gender minorities. The Black Panther Party was the first organization in America to fight for ethnic minorities and working class emancipation and was a huge reason why America is as equal as we are today (Baggins). On October 15, 1966, Huey Newton and Bobby Seale wrote the Ten Point Program. The Ten Point Program is the platform or goals for the Black Panther Party for Defense. The List Listed the 10 things they wanted to achieve with the organization and served as a ultimate goal. They are as listed, We Want Freedom, We Want Full Employment, We Want an End to the Robbery by the White Man of the Black Community, We want Housing and Shelter in which is fit for Humans, We Want an Education which Teaches us our True History and our role in the present day American society, we want all black man to be exempt from military service, we want all black men immediately released from Jail and Prison, we want black men tried in a court of law, we want land, bread, housing and …show more content…
Although the ultimate goal of equal rights for minorities was the same they differed on several key points such as the cultural nationalists saw all white-Americans as the enemy, The Black Panther Party saw only racist white-Americans as the enemy and allied themselves with progressive white-Americans. Cultural nationalists also saw all African-Americans as oppressed, where as the Black Panther’s thought that the elite African-Americans could and often did oppress others themselves and mainly fought for the working class
