Whenever you drive down a highway and see a patch of wildflowers, there’s one woman you may want to thank: Lady Bird Johnson. It may come as no surprise that someone called Lady Bird would love the outdoors, but Lady Bird Johnson took her love to make the world a better place. Lady Bird Johnson is best-known as First Lady and wife of Lyndon B. Johnson, the 36th President of the United States. Many First Ladies devote their time to important causes while living in the White House; Lady Bird Johnson’s cause was the beautification of Washington.
It is after 100 years of progress and social reform that I am here today, honoring writings of a muckraker from the 1800’s. Thank you all for being here today at the 100th Anniversary celebration to commemorate the bold and rebellious Susan B. Anthony. While creating a revolution when it comes to women’s voting rights, she also made a huge movement when it came to the abolishment of slavery in the United States. In 1848, Susan B. Anthony became a teacher in New York, and became involved in the teacher’s union when she discovered that male teachers had a monthly salary of about $10.00, while most of the other female teachers earned around $3.00 a month.
Today is the day for the most fascinating, out of this world adventure, at Dollywood! Our class had an option of choosing our yearly class trip destination, and of course it was Dollywood! Dollywood is a place full of adventure, wonder, and magic! It has everything a girl could dream of it includes: roller coasters, food, animal descriptions, and an area of cognitive-content from years ago. Honestly, to tell you the truth, I had to persuade the class to pick Dollywood, but I knew it would be completely worth it.

From the beginning of mankind, women have been labeled as inferior to men not only physically, but mentally and intellectually as well. Only in 1920 did women gain the right to voice their opinions in government elections while wealthy white men received the expected right since the creation of the United States. A pioneer in women’s suffrage, Susan B. Anthony publicly spoke out against this hypocrisy in a time when women were only seen as child bearers and household keepers. Using the United State’s very own Constitution and Declaration as ammunition, Anthony wrote countless

If I’m here on TV in front of millions of american adults, it means I have something really important to tell you. Did you ever say, implicitly or explicitly, that the lyrics of African-American songs are inappropriate, especially those of rappers such as N.W.A? Statistics say that 90 percent of our population have, and most of the time it was explicitly in front of black people. Now, did you ask yourself why is the language of African-Americans inappropriate? Statistics say that 70 percent of the american population doesn’t know the reason and thinks that because we are born black, we should be bad.
sharpest young critics, believes that male rapper uses violence as a symbol to express macho power, as a way to resolve all the disagreements between blacks and as necessary for individual protection. Due its popularity, hip hop exacerbates the criminal image of black men in a criminal justice system that has an overpopulation of black men in the prison system. Sorrowfully, many believe that this is the direct product of overly increasing black male criminality as opposed of blaming the social structure. With the enormous success of hip hop what started as pure art and a mechanism to bring awareness of what was going on in the black community, has transformed in a lucrative business. The negative aspect of this is that since big corporations control the music’s distribution channels, in many cases the rap artist is forced to produce the type of music that according to the owner is marketable.
When you think of Black Lives Matter what do you think? A hate movement? Violence? Well it is in fact none of those things and this article is going to help you understand why. After the murder of Treyvon Martin in the year 2012 the Black Lives Matter movement was created in response to this unjust death.
Another crucial point that Black Lives Matter movement requires is collaboration and partnership. The movement must reach out to other organizations across the nation to support and stand for Black people. Effective protesters need to have a variety of ways for families, youth and communities to be involved. They need to create partnership with local churches, schools, agencies and organizations and draw on the strength of the community wide collaboration. Social movement is multifaceted; there are different ways to be involved and different levels of involvement.
Alicia Garza: co-creator of the #BlackLivesMatter movement (BLM) advocates that -“Black Lives Matter doesn’t mean your life isn’t important – it means that Black lives, which are seen as without value within White supremacy, are important to your liberation. Given the disproportionate impact state violence has on Black lives, we understand that when Black people in this country get free, the benefits will be wide-reaching and transformative for society as a whole. When we are able to end the hyper-criminalisation of Black people and end the poverty, control and surveillance of Black people, every single person in this world has a better shot at getting and staying free. When Black people get free, everybody gets free.” (The Conversation,2017).
Racism and equality have something that has been going on for a long time now, dating back to all the way when Martin Luther King gave his “I have a dream” speech. The topic racism is something that needs to be changed; we do not need it in the world we live in right now with everything that has been going on. The major thing that is going on right now is the topic of how cops treat African Americans. We have seen many cases of the cops shooting and killing blacks the past few years, and it is something that is becoming a major issue.
Okay look. I’m going to ask a question. Think hard and give a honest answer. How would it feel to know that you were frowned upon because of your skin color? Not cool, right?

Some of you may know me and some of you may not, but I am Clementine Forest one of 3000 women suffragists who has marched here today, the largest march ever occurred, for the cause of women 's suffrage. I am here to represent and express the importance of women receiving the right to vote. Unfortunately, the London weather wasn 't on our side with the presence of heavy rain throughout our march from Hyde Park to Exter Hall, but this reinforces that nothing will stop women from protesting their right to vote. As you know we have been gathered together as one, today on February 9th, 1907, the day in which Parliament is open once again for the coming year.
People are different. People all around the world are different. Why do we as different people categorize others based on their skin color or their gender identity. We should all understand what it means to be different. We all have our rights so the LGBTQ community should also have their rights.
