A journey involves obstacles and movement to new places. They allow people to extend themselves physically, intellectually and emotionally as they respond to challenges and earn more about themselves and the world around them. The idea or the concept of “The Journey,” is demonstrated through the movie “Blade Runner” (directed by Ridley Scott), that focuses on the character named Roy Batty (a male robot). During the movie, they reveal Roy’s inner journey, through his loss and reflection showing his emotions such as empathy, grief and ferocity, and physical journey, as he tries and makes an effort to find a way to expand his life. The foreboding music as Roy arrives and the close up of his face on discovering Pris’s body, indicates and expresses his inner emotion as he felt enraged and mournful when Deckard killed Zhora and Pris. Then Roy takes revenge for Pris and Zhora, “This is for Zhora!” [Roy breaks one of Deckard's fingers] as he sounds furious, “This is for Pris,” [Roy breaks another one of Deckard's fingers], the tone in his voice becomes gentler as he has tears in his eyes, grieving. As Roy knows he is dying, “not yet” as his hand withers, it is indicating that his lifelong journey of regret and desperation is nearly coming to an end. And when Roy is about to die, he expresses his feelings which shows how much he has suffered throughout his life journey “I’ve seen things you people wouldn’t believe….”, “All those moments will be lost in time, like tears in rain.” So, the perception of the inner journey in Blade Runner is explored through the character Roy and the theme of robots feeling emotions and empathy when humans have a heart made of metal and does not feel empathy which makes the audience question and think back on their knowledge, (the audiences own contextualisation) of a normal robot to Roy, who differs in a sense that he has emotions and has the reason to
