Prince Escalus, my name is Aditya Bura and I stand before you today to present an eloquence to address the recent Fray involving Romeo Montague. I am here to defend Romeo in this situation. Romeo should not be blamed for the murder of Tybalt Capulet. Only an uneducated fellow would blame Romeo for this act, what had happened was that Romeo acted on the situation by defending himself. I believe Romeo is not guilty of the murder of Tybalt Capulet. As we look thoroughly through this matter, we can see that in all situations, Tyblat is always the aggressor. While Romeo tried to make peace with him, he always acted in a savage and rude manner towards Romeo. 59-61) As we dissect this statement from Romeo, we come to the understanding that Romeo's initial intent was not to kill Tybalt. He was simply in a state of grief and couldn't control his responses due to the tragedy caused by Tybalt. Before Tybalt and Mercutio start to brawl with each other, Romeo tries to step in between them, being the peacekeeper. Romeo demands, “Gentlemen, for shame! Forbear this outrage!/ Tybalt, Mercutio, the Prince expressly hath forbid this bandying in Verona streets.”(Shakespeare III.I.84-86) Romeo yells that this behavior cannot be tolerated in these streets due to the rule that you my Prince have enlisted. With the critical analysis of these details, we can infer that Romeo was never trying to cause trouble and his initial intent was peace. However, Tybalt did not listen to this warning set by Romeo, and carries on instigating to fight Mercutio. Tybalt was arrogant and failed to listen to Romeo's reason, so because of his own faults he met his death. Following the tragic event of Tybalt killing Mercutio, Tybalt leaves the scene but then returns and instigates a fight against Romeo; that does not seem fair at all.
