Blood Donor, a suspenseful thriller written by Karen Bass that follows a young teen girl, Jo McNair, who missed her curfew and was locked out of her house. While Jo is out wandering, she meets a woman named Mandy. Mandy then offers Jo a place to stay the night and Jo accepts. She is then taken to Mandys car where she is drugged and taken to an old mansion full of other teen girls. The other girls explain that they have been kidnapped for their blood and that this isn't a place for homeless teens. Jo searches the room looking for clues on how to escape when she comes across a hollow wall. Jo and one of the other girls break down the wall and climb up the dumbwaiter and out to safety. Before Jo gets in Mandys car, she has a conversation with her. After waking up in the mansion, Jo has an argument with one of the other girls, this leads to another conversation between Jo and one of the other teens through a shower drain. Jo goes to shower and hears a voice coming from below. She figures out she can talk through the shower drain to the boys who were taken. They discuss how one of the boy's friends is going to attempt to escape. While talking, Jo says to Dylan, “I figure if Ethan springs into the room and locks it, he’ll have a few seconds to break the window and jump out” (53). Dylan replies, “I hope it works” (53). Once Ethan knows the plan and trusts Jo and Dylan he attempts to escape. As he bolts across the yard the guard dogs attack him. The guards walked over to retrieve their dogs and the boy, as they stood him up and pointed something towards him. The boy jolted and flopped to the ground. As Jo watched through the basement window she said, “Shit, tasers''
