When Daniel, a young, brave boy’s family fall into a deep, dark void of bankruptcy, they were forced to move into an old, rusty farm beside a dark woods in rural West Virginia, miles away from town. Daniel’s sister, Erica, grows increasingly unhappy with the farm and holds long conversations with her doll, Little Erica, believing that she is real and has real feelings. The kids at school see the family as strange outsiders and tell them that their farm is haunted by an old, wicked witch whom they call Old Auntie. They say that it is not possible to find her since she had fled so far in such a short time but Daniel believed that there is still hope. Creeping into the woods in search of his sister, he found a little girl hiding in a cabin. Daniel suspects that she is a long-gone girl by the name of Selene Estes, the daughter of the previous owner of the farm who disappeared fifty years ago. He tried to get clues of Erica’s location but the girl said that she does not remember anything other than living with Old Auntie. Daniel was led by the girl to the witch, who said that she has no use of Selene anymore and warned them to never come back. Daniel insisted on his search and finds Miss Perkins, Old Auntie’s younger sister. She tells him to wait at the witch’s door until midnight, knock on the door, and tell her three riddles. Old Auntie will be able to answer two of the riddles, and after she fails the third attempt at the third riddle, she will open the door for him. He then will distract the witch and steal Erica away. Daniel did what he was told and he successfully rescued Erica from the witch, leaving the old cabin in flames along with Old Auntie and Bloody Bones. Erica and Selene both regain their memories the day after and continued on with their life. Miss Perkins the kind witch takes the spot of her sister and watches over Daniel’s
