Exodus, Bob Marley’s ninth album, was produced with the “new” Wailers, and they yielded yet another legendary album. Bob Marley and the Wailers were a Jamaican Reggae and Roots Reggae band from Jamaica. Marley’s idea of music changed the world as we know it, his idea and goal was to produce songs promoting unity, peace, and love in a Rastafarian way, and many of them became a great success. We will never truly be able to understand how much Bob Marley helped slaves and countries of war through his peaceful and love induced songs. Overall, this unsurpassed Reggae band, with both old and new members of the Wailers, produced great albums with a variety of fast and slow tempos, hard and soft beats, catchy melodies, and great messages for their …show more content…

Many lines in Bob’s work reflects his background and passion for this cause. For example, in “Three Little Birds, “ he sings: “ Don’t worry about a thing, ‘cause every little thing is gonna be alright.” What I perceived from this line is an image of someone being comforted after enduring what they have been through, and they are finally able to be at peace knowing that, “ every little thing is gonna be alright.” Another great example of these types of lyrics including the joy of peace and freedom is from “Jamming.” Bob wails. “ooh, yeah, we’re jammin’, hey we’re jammin’, hey to think that jammin’ was a thing of the past, hey we’re jammin’, and I hope this jam gonna last, no bullet can stop us now, we neither beg nor we won’t bow, neither can be bought nor sold, we defend the night, Jah-Jah children must unite, ‘cause life is worth much more than gold.” This hymn of celebration is sung because they’re finally done fighting for their life, whether it be an escape from war or slavery, they are free and they hope the “children” can unite and find peace. This entire album reflects the band’s genre and their country’s terrible history of slavery and war, and it shows many of the Jamaicans, in particular, want to be at peace and be free from slavery, so they can finally …show more content…

I truly understand why Bob sings mostly about these topics, to use his gift as a singer and songwriter to teach people who are unaware or not impacted by these dismal events. One of this band’s many strengths is the ability to write unique songs and combine them into an album for an impactful listening experience. Each song has different elements of a fast and slow tempos, hard and soft beats, and catchy yet meaningful lyrics and melodies throughout his songs and different albums. Because of this bands uniqueness, he is often compared to other memorable and unique artists. Michael Jackson is also very unique, but is very different from Bob Marley and the Wailers. The two artists are often compared because of how successful and influential their music was during their time and continues to present time. Michael Jackson won a variety of awards, and changed the face of music forever. He performed instead of only singing, and changed music concerts and videos into performances. Although Michael has been more dominant in the music industry, Bob Marley and the Wailers are timeless due to their big role in civil rights movements and music that talked of world peace and freedom rather than performing to entertain. For these reason, they most likely have had a bigger influence on the present world and will
