Bob Pittman The story of Bob Pittman, from his work as a DJ to being a successful CEO of many companies, makes him an influential person in the music and media industries. He would eventually start working as a DJ, and would become one of the creators of MTV. Since then he has become CEO of many different companies. He is currently CEO of iHeartMedia. Robert “Bob” Pittman was born in Jackson Mississippi on December 28th, 1953. He was born to Warren Pittman, his father, who was a Methodist minister and his mother Lanita who was a homemaker. He mainly grew up in Brookhaven, Mississippi. At age 15 he became a disc jockey at a local radio station in Brookhaven. After he graduated from high school he would go to many universities but never quite saw eye to eye with them. He started taking radio more seriously and wanted to go further. He started working in other places like Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He would go on to work at WDRQ in Detroit, Michigan as a research director. A research director he gets to know the audience of that particular radio market which helps the sales team sell commercials. He would then go to work at WPEZ located in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to work as the program director. He would then become the CEO and president of Time Warner Enterprises from 1990-1995. He also became the CEO of Six Flags Entertainment during that time and revived it totally boosting up attendance from 17 million to 25 million. After Time Warner, he worked as a CEO at Century 21 Reality. He also became CEO of AOL Networks. For a while he did little things like private owned businesses. He would then go to work at iHeartMedia in 2010 and helped come up with the iHeartRadio Music Festival one of the biggest music festivals
