It’s the summer once again, and I just finished fourth grade a week ago. We were allowed to read and write lots more in fourth grade than in third grade, which allowed me blend in with the other kids better. I waited for Dill to come to Maycomb, to Miss Rachel’s, next to our house for four dreaded days. Since I last saw Boo Radley, I continued to wonder about him. Did Jem hear my perspective of the incident of that night, although he was asleep? Is what I saw any different than what he saw? Did I give Atticus and Mr. Tate false information? I’ve attempted to talk to Jem about that night, however, he refuses to talk about it. I still doubt that Bob Ewell accidentally fell on his knife. I never saw him, but I can feel him carefully looking at us sometimes, and I would picture him looking at us from the foggy livingroom window. Once in awhile, I wave my hand toward the window, hoping he is watching us. I want to see him again to tell him thank you because I never got to. Finally, Dill came to us. We were all very ecstatic of his arrival and we, mostly myself told the tale of that night once again. To myself, that night is still undoubtedly vivid to the point where I can paint it out, though it would mostly be pitch black and Boo would be on the street, watching us. Dill ate supper with us today. After the meal, Atticus went to his chair and quietly read the newspaper, treating it like a delicate flower. As with every summer, we played, but I noticed that I spent less time with Dill and Jem this summer. Aunt Alexandra is training me to be a lady, and Calpurnia still worries about me more than Jem. I still wear overalls and play hard with Jem and Dill. Dill tries to plan a way to get into the Radley’s place, but as much as we want to see him, we didn’t want to disturb Mr. Arthur in anyway especially after he saved us, so we never snuck into the Radley’s house.
