During the prophetic span of Isaiah, there was a great political strife in Judah. In the book of Isaiah there are several themes running through the entirety of the book, firstly there is the call to trust in the “Holy one of Israel”. Faith in the Lord would assure forgiveness for transgressions the people have committed and deliverance from their enemies, the enemies that oppress them and enslave God’s chosen people. The people were urged to wait on the Lord; this was another important theme that was mentioned in the book multiple times. Isaiah made mention numerous time of the events to come, foretelling the fall of the heathen nations and the establishment of the kingdom of the Messiah who would rule with righteousness and justice The new King David “The Messiah to come and the glory of His age”. God is "the Holy One of Israel" who must punish his rebellious people but will afterward redeem them, and bring them back to himself. Israel, as we see in the scripture if Isiah is a vineyard that will be trampled , a people lacking of justice or righteousness. Throughout the book, God's judgment is seen as fire. God always will have compassion on his people and will rescue them from both political and spiritual oppression. Israel's mighty Creator will make streams spring up in the desert as he leads them home. The theme of a highway for the return of exiles is yet another important aspect in both parts of the book.
