Characters Antigone- She is the oldest daughter of Oedipus and Jocasta. She is the brave one compared to her sister and she thinks that her brother Polyneices deserves a proper burial so she goes to do this and gets banned from the city. Ismene- She is the youngest daughter of Oedipus and Jocasta. Ismene warns Antigone that if she buries her brother, she will be killed and Ismene wanted nothing to do with this at all. After Antigone is caught trying to bury her brother, Creon sent her to go be executed and Ismene said she was not a part of this plan and she got sent free by Creon. Haemon is supposed to marry Antigone but when Creon banishes Antigone to her death then Haemon runs off. Later on in the play he is on the side of the road dead. Polyneices- He is the eldest son of Oedipus and Jocasta. He is supposed to gain power of the crown next but Eteocles takes over and make Polyneices leave from Thebes. Antigone is very angry about this so she makes a plan to go bury her brother. When Ismene was too scared to go bury the body Antigone went to go do it herself.
Creon discovers that someone has attempted to offer a burial and he gets mad at this so he sends most of his men out to go find whoever did this and a little bit later they found Antigone. Creon was furious at this so he sends Antigone to her punishment.
Haemon, Creon's son who was to marry Antigone, tell his father to try to change his mind for the better. Creon is very mad at the fact that his son took the side of a women. Haemon leaves and said he was never coming back. Without admitting that Haemon may be right, Creon felt guilty for what he did so she lets Ismene go and Antigone get the die from die of starvation rather than stoned to death by the city. The blind prophet Tiresias tells creon that the gods are mad at him for leaving the body out to rot and the gods said that the penalty if doing this is death of his son. After believing Tiresias he goes to bury Polyneices and free
