Many major events are forgotten if not written down. It’s What I Do: A Photographer’s Life of Love and War is a book about a young photojournalist named Lynsey Addario. Addario was always interested in photography. She went to a different country and took photographs of the streets, rivers, and also women in village. Meanwhile, she was struggling to find an assignment with the New York Times. “I was there on assignment for the New York Times” (Addario, Page 4), Later, a journalist named Ed, recommended Addario to go to Afghanistan since she was interested in photographing women and the issues they were facing. She agreed to travel to Afghanistan on Ed’s recommendation. She was the only woman going there and it is really tuff to be the only woman there it’s just like working alone because it was that kind of a time frame. Being young, she was just finding her way when the tragic event occurred on September 11. After the attacks that occurred on September 11, Addario decided to travel to Afghanistan and face the crisis. This was an opportunity for her to make a name of her own. Lyndsey had to work with her male peers and it was challenging for her, because she didn’t have an equal opportunity to show her photographing skills. In many countries men are the bread winners and the heads of the house, but Lyndsey shows that even women can manage to work and earn money. She didn’t have the same power as the men but she was very brave that helped her be like a man. She didn’t break down when she would realize that men had more power. “While covering war, there were days when I had boundless courage and there were days, like these in Libya, when I was terrified from the moment I woke up.” (Addario, Page 2), As a woman, she had to struggle living at the places that she was at but she didn’t quit, instead she continued taking photographs of the people at
