Fahrenheit 451 Technology By: Izzy Leeper Imagine a world with technology that is so advanced that you can talk to people on a wall-sized TV screen like they are standing right next to you. With modern-day technology, we don’t have the opportunity to see such advancements. The technology in the book Fahrenheit 451, by Ray Bradbury, is much more advanced than today’s technology. They can have robots who know everything, far more advanced medical technology, and interactive TVs. At Fahrenheit 451, they have higher levels of medical technology than we do. If one were to overdose, they could completely take out all of their blood and give them new blood. They can also pump their stomach. On page 76, we see Guy’s wife, Mildred, lying on a hospital

We then saw her the next day feeling perfectly fine, like nothing ever happened. Mildred also has a very close connection with the people on TV. Which is weird because our TVs are just people on a screen. But, in this dystopian world, they can communicate with and even have full conversations with these people on TV. On page 42, Mildred says, “They’re my family.” Their technology is so advanced that it leads them to believe that the people on TV are with them in real life. These TV screens are also not like normal-sized tv’s, they cover the entire parlor/living room wall. In the modern world, we have some big TVs but nothing compared to what they have. Finally, in Fahrenheit 451 they have a robot dog with real flesh controlled by computers. We have nothing like this. They call it The Hound. The Hound can sense books and other illegal activity, so the firemen know exactly what is happening everywhere. This Hound acts like a guard dog and is almost used as a “killing machine”. In today’s world, we have dogs and we even have robots, but nothing that can sense all illegal activity. Now, some might say, we have millions of different types of medicines and social media apps that we can interact with others
