There were many acts of humanity during the times of struggle in the Holocaust within the sources of Chosen For Reasons Unknown By Murray Ebner, Night By Ellie Weisel and We Remember the Holocaust By David A. Adler. We Remember the Holocaust, written by David A. Adler. This book was written to further deepen the understanding of what happened during the Holocaust told through thousands of survivors' stories. There were countless acts of humanity during times of struggle. One example told by Alfred Lipson was when he was in the Radom ghetto where it was illegal to teach children anything not about nazism. “All schools in the Radom ghetto were closed.” One day my two younger sisters, Myra and Dina. asked me to teach them. (pg 58) Alfred Lipson knew the risks of teaching his little sisters. But, he found the light in the darkness and decided to help them get their minds off what was happening outside. This is relevant because when they were in the ghetto it was horrifying for children to walk the streets, that act of humanity took the children's focus from surviving to learning. Even if it was just for a little while, this helped them tremendously. Furthermore, Leo Fischelberg remembers when he was at the work camp desecrating the Jewish cemeteries. I had to carry the bodies with their hands and legs. We found some that weren't dead yet and put them on the top of the pile so they could breathe. The SS saw us doing it and reprimanded us. We remember this is important because Leo knew he would be punished, but he still did it to give the person a chance even though it may be slim.
