Peter Skene Ogden was born in 1794. Ogden was an experienced trapper and mountain man who remained with the Hudson’s Bay Company, after its 1821 merger with the North West Fur Company. Shortly after that he was made leader of the Snake River Expeditions by John Mcloughlin. He also was instructed to continue the British policy of creating a “fur desert”. There are many books out there that are just waiting to be picked up by someone. Some of those books are good, some are great and then others aren’t as much fun to read. Out of all the books in the world the 3 books that have been read this year, A stranger in the house, the couple next door, and the fallout, have been the leading ones for the best book. To start off, the third best book, “The Fallout” by sa bodeen, is about a family of 6 kids and their mother who had just escaped their father who had kept them all underground for 5 years. 3 of the kids had been born after going into the underground hideout and 1 son, the main character’s twin, was left outside as well as their grandmother.
Robberies, signals, court, trust and even Murder makes up Monster by Walter Dean Myers. Without a doubt, One's opinion cannot be manipulated by results. Throughout the story of Monster Steve Harmon is put on trial for involvement in felony murder. Later on, he is proven not guilty. Although the results of the court stated him as not guilty his own defendant’ opinion did not change.
Gordon Smith wrote the book, Lockdown : Escape From Furnace. I really enjoyed reading this book for a few reasons. One reason that I really enjoyed about this book was how well Gordon Smith explained certain aspects of his writing with great emotion and detail. Another thing I liked about this book was that he never ended a chapter without having me thinking what was going to happen next. He continually kept me engaged and interested throughout the whole book.
Lockdown by Walter Dean Myers is a novel that will keep you on your toes. Inspiration, courageousness, nervousness, and depression are all the emotions you feel while reading Lockdown. A topic based around someone making a mistake and ending up in jail isn’t easy to digest, but when the prisoner is only fourteen it’s unbelievable. While reading this book it was quite obvious Walter Dean Myers arranged a lot of research for this novel, it was written very well and full of facts. Hearing stories of gang violence, drug abuse, and shootings is a big wake up call for anyone who interprets this novel it reallys make you realize how grateful you should be for what you have.
Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury is one of a mustread book for all ages. The book tells the story of a fireman whose life takes an unexpected turn when he meets his new neighbor. Guy Montag, the fireman, then he have to face many challenges and overcomes his own fears. Montag’s society forbids its people to read any kind of books because they don’t want their people to be able to think for themselves. Much like our society today, in a way.
The book I chose to read for my book review was “ Killing Mr.Griffin”. It is about 5 high school students who hate their english teacher Mr. Griffin and come up with a plan to kidnap him. Their main purpose is to just torture and make Mr. Griffin think he is going to die. The plan takes a tragic turn and results in Mr. Griffin's death. The plan simply falls apart in a domino effect of terror and grief.
The author of the novel that I decided to read this week is Walter Dean Myers and the name of the novel is Kick. This novel is about a boy named Kevin and he had never been in trouble before, but he did and he went to juvenile hall. He was a good kid, caught between a rock and a hard place when a female friend asks for his help. He got caught driving her in her father's car, after causing a small accident, but cannot explain the why he was with the girl without getting his friend in trouble.
Gilman also highlights a lack of identity of the narrator through the setting of the novella which reflects the narrator’s societal confinement. The protagonist is surrounded by “hedges and walls and gates that lock”, which create a sense of separation that the narrator feels from others and the outside world. In addition, the room in which she is confined contains a “heavy bedstead, and… barred windows, and then that gate at the head of the stairs, and so on”. These physical and ‘prison-like’ restrictions imposed on the protagonist clearly demonstrate her lack of freedom. Additionally, Gilman’s use of syndetic listing to describe the narrator’s physical entrapment is perhaps reflective of her feelings of suffocation and her inability to escape as the list feels never ending.
Towards the end of the book, Johnny runs into a burning
Owning a property can be a truly rewarding experience along with solid investment and providing a good revenue income only when you are able to maintain it efficiently. Also, Johnny was only the one who serves as a vent to his parents’ anger. Days pass and years pass, Johnny was horribly scared of violence. According to the saying of parents are the best teach- ers to children, the violence was just like a seed which was kept in Johnny’s heart and grew gradual- ly day by day. That was all
The weather always corresponded with the feelings and emotions that Jay Gatsby was feeling at that time, especially during the hotel fight between him and Tom Buchanan, tea time with Daisy Buchanan, and at the end of the book the season corresponds with the death of Gatsby. For instance heat is the main way of portraying the anger and tension among Gatsby and Tom Buchanan during their dispute in chapter seven. While the tension begins to build during the luncheon, Daisy stands up
Genetics Modification And Engineering (GM, GMO, GE) I genuinely can’t conceive the mind of a person that is against genetically modified foods/food crops. From my point of view it is a great discovery. All organisms have genetic material, including us humans. Today we have the technology start genetically modifying foods or food crops using biotechnology into something that is tastier, drenched in nutrients and healthier. Experts have declared that genetically modified ingredients are inserted into 60% to 70% of processed foods on U.S. grocery shelves.
