Captured! Was a book based on The Battle of Fort Donelson, and Camp Morton. The Main Character Johnny Ables a fourteen year old boy had gone to cut wood for his mom. When Johnny had been finishing up cutting wood he had got ambushed by some men and captured. The men were confederate soldiers and they took Johnny for his horses and his wagon. Johnny had to go with them and they headed to Fort Donelson. The Confederate soldiers were really friendly to Johnny even though he was a hostage. The men took the wood and made a huge fire with it and, they all conversed while they ate. The men had even gave johnny some food to eat even though they hardly had any. They were supplied a nice amount of water to the barracks to drink, clean themselves, and wash their clothes. The bad part about washing their clothes was they had to hang them in the barracks which made the barracks even more damp. The camp they were at was called camp Morton. Camp Morton’s leader was Colonel Owen. When Johnny first came to Camp Morton he was very upset. Johnny was upset because he was losing hope that he would ever get to go home to his family. Johnny one day got told that everyone got to write a monitored one page letter home. Johnny wrote a letter to his mom, but she never wrote back. This is where things got really bad for Johnny Ables. Johnny would lay in his bed all day wrapped in a blanket. Johnny would hardly eat unless the other soldiers in the barrack would make him. Everyone in Camp Morton got a very small allowance. Johnny Roche used his allowance for paper. Johnny Roche and the everyone else in Johnny’s barrack wrote Johnny a petition. The petition was to get Johnny out of the prison, because he was not a soldier. The petition mentioned that Johnny Ables was kidnapped and underage. Johnny Roche got soldiers to sign this petition,
