The book that I have chosen for this semester was “Life in motion”, an autobiography by Misty Copeland. I personally chose to read this book because it is about a dancer and I am a dancer. This book stood out to me because she is my inspiration and has been for a long time. I look up to her and I decided well, to read a book about my inspiration.
Wonder The book I read was Wonder by R. J. Palacio. The protagonist was August. August was a boy who was born with a facial disorder. He became so use to people talking about him, it no longer bothered him.
In this novel wonder by R.J. Palacio, she wrote about a 10 year old boy that finds himself challenged in his difference in appearance from others. For example, August says “ I wish that I had a normal face that no one notices” pg 1. This shows that August was self conscious about his face when he is at school and walking down the streets . August was singled out when he went to school and everywhere he goes. When August said“ he didn't want to sit next to me because I was too messy with my food” pg 67.
In the novel Wonder by R.J Palacio, Jack and summer have different perspectives about august but they are still friends with him but they still Friends with no matter what he looks like. For example, “He's not a zombie, I laughed like they were making a joke”( pg 119). His classmates treat August differently because does not look the same as other people. This means that even if August is down on himself, his friends will still cloud lift him back up off the ground. For example, after he left the classroom Jack said: “ dude thanks for doing that” (pg 142).August looks out for other people and for that reason that makes him a very good friend to other people.
With all of his books, he impacted many kids’ imagination and their ability to love to read and still do
I would have to say that one of many books that has helped to form my understanding of my faith is actually the book called Daisy Head Mayzie by Dr. Seuss. This story is about a girl who at the very beginning of the story is just like everyone else though rather quickly it becomes apparent, when she sprouts a daisy on her head, that she is rather different from everyone else. Over the course of the book she faces teasing and fame along with the desire to be normal and hating all of the attention. When I look back and try to imagine what I was thinking while reading this book it is initially hard because I was five years old when the book came out.
After a lot of hard work, Auggie began to make friends. Reading this book even changed my perspective on other people and their feelings. So, not only did Auggie achieve his goal, but he helped other people
The most incredible book I have ever read in a blink of an eye is the Fault in our Stars. The main cause for this book being the most fantastic book I have ever read is due to the connection between Augustus and Hazel Grace. There relationship grew through out the book because they were able to help each other in varying ways. This was demonstrated sowing that; Augustus has the strength to help Hazel and Hazel had the brains to help Augustus. Augustus shows this when he states the Hazel, “Oh I wouldn’t mind, Hazel Grace.
So with this information in mind , these are some of the books that have influenced my character and therefore my literature journey . My favorite memories either include an animal a friend or me upside down in my bed ( my favorite reading spot ) with a good book . Reading was always a safe place away from boredom and annoying siblings . One of the books I remember the most was a broad purple heavy book called ‘ Bible Stories for Kids’ I remember how at first I only read it because it was the only book in my little “library” that I had not read ; A story that stands out among others is the story of Jesus walking on water ; I can distinctly remember the first time I read this story , I was in an airplane on my way to Reynosa , Tamaulipas to visit my family.
It taught me that strength and perseverance can make a significant impact in life. I also learned that forgiveness and the ability to forgive is much more powerful than I ever realized. This novel sucked me into the story and its characters and took me on an emotional ride of highs and lows. Finally, it forced me to reevaluate my previous judgement of the homeless.
Why do bullies bully? This is a question many people ask themselves. Why do they do what they do? Well, everyone’s story is different like Julian, the bully in the novel, “Wonder”, by R.J. Palacio. Julian is not someone you would look up to.
I believe that books have a huge impact on my life, and I read so much that it’s very hard to pick just one book. If I had to I would pick the book Divergent written by Veronica Roth. This book really kept me on my toes the entire time reading it, but it really helped me to understand that through adversity, comes something great at the end. Tris goes through many things, but one of the worst has to be when she decides to join Dauntless and leave her family. She also happens to lose her parents in the process of fighting back against the government.
During summer while other kids were outside having fun, i was indoors with my AC on reading different kind of books because of a soccer injury i had. If it wasn 't for that injury i don 't think i would of ever gotten a book on my own. It all started with an injury to a book that became the book that kept me going to find more books to read. The book is called " A Child Called It: One Child 's Courage to Survive" by David Pelzer. Before this i thought all books were boring but this one totally changed my mind.
Wonder by R.J. Palacio Literary Thematic Essay In Wonder, by R.J Palacio, August, also know as Auggie, is the main character who is a boy with a facial deformity which deeply affects him from finding friends. Auggie 's facial deformity is what Julian uses to relentlessly tease Auggie. Auggie is entering middle school which is his greatest challenge yet. Auggie has always been homeschooled and he is cautious about what the other students will say about him, but not everyone is going to be mean to him.
During my elementary years, I don’t recall being interested in reading, but I do remember the first time I fell in love with it. I was in my 7th-grade reading class. I just completed a quiz when my teacher realized that I had nothing to do after. She offered me a book that I will remember for the rest of my life because it is the book that basically started my reading journey. It was called Tears of a Tiger by Sharon Draper, I loved the book so much that I read the whole entire series.
