On the morning of March 14, 1765, the first blow towards the British Government was thrown. In detail, according to a letter by Governor Bernard, in a central park of Boston an effigy, doll representation, of the stamp distributor, Mr. Oliver, was found hung from a tree. This initial blow to the law keepers of Boston came as a surprise, as they did not know how to react to the situation. The governor goes on to state that even within his council this initial blow was received with mixed emotions. To explain, some of the council members saw this backlash from the community simply as a "boyish sport that did not deserve the attention of the governor"(Governor Bernard, P 10).

The Boston Fire of 1872 At around 7 pm November 9th 1872, a spark of unknown origin ignited very inflammable materials within the basement of a dry goods store in Summer and Kingston Streets. Curious spectators assumed that someone had alerted the firefighters.
Throughout his lifetime, Hassam created a multitude of artwork that is worthy of eternal appreciation, but among those Boston Common at Twilight is likely his greatest masterpiece. Though his work was not as greatly appreciated during his lifetime, over the years he has went down in history as possibly the greatest among the American Impressionist. Hassam took a chance and followed his heart and his mind by pioneering in the Impressionist style and now his work has went down in history. Admiral William H. Mcraven addressed the 2014 graduating class at the University of Austin, Texas with more than eight thousand students in attendance. The address given by Adm. Mcraven touched the hearts of millions from all around the world by his inspirational message of how one person can change the world if they simply helped change the lives of ten others in their lifetime. I chose this speech for my rhetorical analysis because of the simple message it portrays, how helping a few can eventually help many. Adm. Mcraven’s address was especially effective for his audience, much due to how he relates to the students by reminiscing of the day he graduated from UT while providing advice for young college graduates preparing to begin their adult lives.
In life, there are few things as organic as jazz music. With its raw sound and scrappy roots, one cannot help but feel life head-on whilst witnessing players produce such a sound right before their eyes. Its origins and arch are a product of the United States’ national culture and identity. Jazz exists not only as a deeply rooted form of art but as a cultural marker, particularly during its commercial peak in the first half of the 20th century. Its impact transcends borders, and it is one of the most beloved musical genres worldwide.
On the day of Sunday April 10th, I went to a jazz ensemble concert at the Trinity University Ruth Taylor Recital Hall. This hall was much larger than the previous performance I attended. My first impression of the group was that they were relaxed and comfortable. For instance, when the drummer winked the drummer gave when the director explained his switch from the trumpet to drums.
The poem “Jazz Band in a Parisian Cabaret” by Langston Hughes talks to the audience about how jazz can be found in many different ways, or “languages”, and that everyone can listen to jazz and enjoy it no matter how high of a class or type of person they are. This is shown through many parts of the play including the imagery and word choice. The images that the poem produce helps to show a scene in which many people have gathered in an area around the jazz band, listening to the various ways the music is played. The word choice also helps to show that everyone from “American millionaires” and “dukes” to “school teachers” and “gigolos” can all listen to jazz music and understand what is trying to be portrayed through the rhythms and
Abstract The global garment industry, worth more than $400 billion dollars today, is a very lucrative industry. Garment factories in developing countries working for retailers in developed ones shows how efficiency is increased and every party can benefit through outsourcing of labour from developed countries; retailers and consumers get clothes at cheaper prices while employment is provided to areas plagued with poverty. However, it is evident that many of these garment factories are sweatshops, which are factories and businesses that violates local or international labour laws, such as providing workers with atrocious working conditions, providing minimal compensation or even employing child labour. Like it or not, many of our clothes does not come ethically and they have probably encouraged labour exploitation in one way or another.
