Before the French and Indian War, the colonists paid very few taxes. After the war, Britain decided that the American Colonists should pay for the Boston Tea Party since they dumped all the tea in an attempt to protest the taxes on tea. The British tried to punish the colonists by introducing three new laws for the colonists to follow. They decided to tighten control, limit settlements, and raise the tax revenue. the colonists responded by protesting. the boycotted, and also rioting. Rioting proved to be the most effective means of protesting. They signed petitions not to import British goods until the Stamp Act was repealed. During the boycotts, a group of women called the Daughters of Liberty boycotted against cloth and tea that was imported
