Animal Farm: Boxer Boxer is one of the most important characters needed for Animal farm and the idea of Animalism. The horse represents the hard working people, those who work day and night to achieve their projects. The other animal need him with the work that they cannot do by themselves. He is the only animal who is stronger enough to carry heavy weights and walk all day with them without complaining. This aspect of him helps when they are building the windmill. Every time the animals are in difficulty, Boxer is the one to help them and carry the rocks without problem. In page 24 and 25, the author mentions that characteristic of him. The new leader tries to kill him in front of everyone with his dogs but finally changes his mind and waits for a better opportunity. Even if he is simple minded and finds difficult to speak his mind, he does it when his conviction are in danger if we can say it like this. When Napoleon accuse Snowball of high treason and having contacts with the old farmer John, Boxer tries to defend him in front of Squealer, saying that in the Battle of the Cowshed, he saw Snowball fight with them and try to protect them, the pig immediately says the contrary and says that it is Napoleon who said that. Boxer trust Napoleon in his decision so he just believes him (page 32). It happens again in the last opposing all the animals and the humans when Napoleon says they won, Boxer thinks otherwise after saying that it isn’t a victory because of all the comrades who died that day but the argument soon finished like the first one (page 40). Still believing the animals will receive a fair treatment one day, he works until he cannot even move one muscle and hurt himself just to help the animals with the windmill and thinking that one day his work will be rewarded. He worked until his last breath for the others
