She talks about the inner desires we have for brutality and how we mimicry death. The public wants to go back to their primitive nature through the boxers, their ideal end for a fight is a knockout. On the other hand, she states that men see boxing as a way to improve their lifestyles, the dangers of the street are by far greater. Boxers gain adrenaline as a result to their near death
Boxers and Saints, written by Gene Luen Yang, are two companion graphic novel volumes reflecting the Boxer Rebellion. He shows people that war always has two faces. The main character Little Bao in Boxers becomes the leader of the Boxer Rebellion after his villagers were killed by authorities and the main character Four-Girl in Saints converts to Christianity where she is more accepted for who she is and adopts the saint name “Vibiana.” When reading the first book, Boxers, I hate all foreigners because they kill Chinese people. However, Yang 's two narratives complement each other as they provide me with dual views on many of the same events.
Author Norman Cousins's essay is powerful and well written undoubtingly. However I feel as though the descriptiveness in the writing shows more of a spotlight on human nature than a need for boxing to be outlawed. When the relationship between the fans and the competitors is described in full, the author, makes well known that it's the fans that demand brutes. A graphic descripition on the fraility of the human brain emphasized the unnecessary risks involved but with little condemnation to those who actively participate. Futhermore a description towards the end of the essay gives me the impression the author isnt fully objectified to boxing.

Boxing, a very physical sport which consist of two men or women(nowadays) fight and attempt to knock on another down for 10 seconds, is a very controversial sport among critics due to the number of health risks that can happen to due to the violence of the sport. Norman Cousins, a journalist from The New York Evening Post wrote about the incident and bashed everyone from the boxers to the fans involved. He criticized the sport and described it as a barbaric and uncivilized sport for killers. This opinion seems completely inaccurate when reading “In Defence of Cassius Clay” by Floyd Patterson, a former boxing world champion.
Why parents shouldn't let their kids box Boxing is clearly a dangerous sport. One wrong move and you’re laying on the floor blacked out. Sometimes never to wake up again. Boxing takes a lot of your time to participate in. Also boxing makes violence look like it's okay.
Wrestling takes a toll on not only your body, but takes a toll on you mentally. I have spent hours on end running in garbage bags and sauna suits just to lose those few extra pounds right before we check weight. Then, wrestling brings in this factor of even more physicality
Despite the fact that injuries regularly occur in the ring, many other people argue that boxing shouldn't be banned because it is a way for many people to better themselves and keep themselves away from starting bad habits. In Source G, Dr. Whiteson shares that many people from underprivileged backgrounds step up to boxing to help with "discipline, dietary, improvements." However, even though a boxer enjoys what they are doing, they are still putting their bodies and lives at risk for the entertainment of millions of people and for money. The fact that boxing causes injuries to the head and includes the possibility of death, can take away from the fun and enjoyment of watching the sport.
Boxing has been a popular form of entertainment for people for decades. Two boxers compete with skill, endurance and strength to win. In most cases, there is an underdog or boxer who is predicted as one who will lose. The greatest wins come from the story of the underdog who overcame obstacles and adversity to win. If you get kicked or punched right in the right spot on your head you could get a major concussion or in a worse case, killed. I would consider MMA to people who fight a lot in school. People who fight a lot in school most likely will become a MMA fighter. Such as Anderson Silva in 3rd grade he broke a kid 's nose for calling him a girl. Here is some advice for MMA “it’s not about hard you hit, it’s about how hard you can get hit and get back up.”
As soon as you learn to never give up, you have to learn the power and wisdom of unconditional surrender, and that one doesn't cancel out the other; they just exist as contradictions. The wisdom of it comes as you get older”.- Kris Kristofferson Here are some of the disadvantages of boxing as a
While some might be still ignorant about the dangers of the sport some argue it enhances the self defense techniques in the young children and teaches them discipline. However one cannot deny boxing requires a lot of exercise and training and physical fitness but it also encourages the child to be violent and resolve any problems he has with punching others and not actually fixing their issues by expressing them. Also, it sends an image that hitting people and releasing negative energy can only be achieved by spilling blood, but many others sport achieve the same energy without all the violence such as karate and in taekwondo both sports encourage self-defense and requires psychical fitness
In conclusion, wrestling can be a huge benefactor in later life. Wrestling will always keep you healthy and help maintain good body form. Aside from the benefits of getting ripped abs, you won 't have to worry about someone hurting you because you can defend yourself. But at the same time, wrestling will help you in life.
As I sit here after the end of my last wrestling season, I write this essay mostly for myself, reflecting on where my life has gone. Avon Athletics, in specific wrestling, has been there every step of the way. In packets put together by the wrestling head coach, I read about how great the sport of wrestling is from the perspective of a state qualifier. I want to share a different perspective. I want to share the perspective from a wrestler who has lost the passion for the sport he once loved; but also a wrestler who will never regret a single moment of time spent on the mat.
