American Apparel uses the design of its homepage to make a strong appeal to the emotions of its buyers. While the company sells to males, females, children, and animals, its website makes it clear that they are specifically targeting young women. The homepage exclusively shows pictures of young, attractive female models. These ads assert and illustrate the idea that if someone buys the American Apparel brand, they too can look like the models in the pictures. Obviously this isn’t a logical argument, but it is not meant to be.
The short story “The Knife” utilizes various forms of diction to strengthen the quality of the text. He uses imagery in order to draw the audience into the story. Vivid phrases, such as “the tight click of clamps” and “the tough fibrous sheet” create a description that resonates with the audience. Selzer uses diction to create the tone and mood of the story. In the opening paragraph, his word choice suggests that the speaker is a murderer; in later paragraphs, it is implied that the speaker is a surgeon trying to save a patient.

The use of Ethos, Pathos, and Logos are some of the ways a speaker uses to appeal to the audience and make them identify with the logic being argued. The speaker identified what the audience wants to hear or needs and establishes these requirements to fit within the context of philosophy, ethics, and emotions. The speech made at the State of the Union 1964 goes to show how a speaker can use words, expressions, and even nonverbal communication. The essay sought to establish the main ideas presented in the speech that relates to the three most important rhetorical concepts. Rhetorical questions are supposed to give us time to reflect and think and through ought the speech Lyndon can affirm that and keep the audience attentive.
In the story “The Plastic Pink Flamingo: A Natural History”, Jennifer Price explains the influence of “plastic pink flamingo phenomenon.” Furthermore, she also delineates the lavish nature of real flamingos. However, Price’s purpose is not to enlighten the readers of either real or artificial flamingos. In fact, Price attempted to introduce her own view of the United States culture. By talking about these plastic flamingos, she gets a point a crossed to the readers.

The Style of Poe Analysis In “The Tell-tale Heart” by Edgar Allen Poe, the demented, arrogant and dark tones reflect the man’s guilt and insanity that eventually leds him to admit to the crime he committed. Poe’s diction heightens the arrogant tones which is seen as the man plans the murder and carries it out in a careful, organized way. He goes “boldly” into the chamber, “cunningly” sticks his head in the doorway and feels “the extent of his own power”. Poe’s use of diction shows how cocky the man actually is.
Shake & Stirs production of “Tag”, dramatically captures the central aspects of cyber bullying and conveys then to the audience in an interesting manner. This production focuses on the idea of young teenagers using social media as a platform to be bullied, and to be the bully.
