Brass Choir Concert Report

This Tuesday night a Brass Choir concert was located at Lee University, the Pangle Hall. This performance was conducted by Nathan Warner, who is a trumpeter that has performed in many places in Chattanooga. This performance as well involved many different instruments and the school’s band. The brass choir has eighteen Blass players. The instruments in this concert included trombone, trumpet, French horns, and tuba, and etc. to keep the audience at alert and interested. The concert began with a song called, “Fanfare for Such a Time as This”, which is by David Holsinger. The song contained many different kinds of instruments which included the trumpet, French horns, baritone, tuba, tympani, snare drum, as well as a bass drum. The instrument that stood out the most to me in this song were the French horns, they made the song stand out and made it more vibrant. Next, the song called “Coppia Real” was played which is by Orazio Vecchi arr. Jay Lichtmann. The instruments that were included in this song were French horns, trombone, and trumpets. The trumpets and the French horns were my favorite instruments in this song, they instruments played together made the song flow beautifully. …show more content…

This suite was initially only written for a piano duet, but it advanced to full orchestra. This song is composed of six Renaissance style dances which included; Basse-danse, Pavane, Tordion, Bransles, Pieds-en-l’air’, and Mattachins. My favorite was the Mattachins, it was very calm at the beginning then at the end became more towards a climax. The concert continued with a song called, “Song for Japan” by Steven Verhelst. This piece is modern style which included the trombone, this song was performed slower in a beautiful tone. This ong was dedicated to the Japanese tsunami
