Tony pamar wrote the narrative Break of Day. In Break of Day, Tony Palmer speaks about 3 main themes of, family secrets, bravery and death. Family secrets can influence people for better or for worse, bravery can come from the most cowardice people and death is the same, but the way we die and get burried is much different. Tony palmer shows the theme of family secrets and how they can give people great motivation but also have the power to destroy people. One was the death of Murray and Wills father “they found [him] by the stables. He would have been safe in the house, but when the the fire approached, he must have gone outside again.” They held a funeral They held a funeral for him. Were everyone who loved him came to say their goodbyes. The death of the unknown soldier happened while murray was at war. “Murray and frank [made] a grave and pushed [the] dead soldier in it and buried him” They did not grieve as they bury the unknown soldier, unlike at Will and Murray's father’s funeral, where loved ones came and said farewell. Another tragic death was the one of uncle Jack. He spoke his last words on his deathbed, “as his breathing became thinner and drier…”i can’t leave… you understand that, don’t you?”...until eventually [he] stopped.”.
