Breakdancing Interview Report

I decided to interview one of my friend’s older brother, Minh. My friend and I have been friends throughout high school, and I decided to interview her older brother because I do not know him very well and wanted to learn about Minh’s passion of breakdancing. I was particularly interested in learning about breakdancing from Minh because it is the foundation of hip hop dancing, which is one of my hobbies. The interview took place on Saturday October 17, 2015 at 11 pm through a Skype video session. I called Minh on Skype from my dorm room on campus, and he was sitting in his room with a casual, red t-shirt. Even though it was nighttime, his room was very well lit which matches his bright, friendly personality and his smile. Although Minh seems a bit reserved because he is quiet, he never fails to have a big smile on his face when he greets someone. Breakdancing provides a safe, familiar sanctuary for Minh to be able to have fun and forget about his stress because he gets to spend time with his friends, whether they are practicing, traveling, or eating together. Because Minh claims that “breakdancing has turned into a lifestyle” and allows breakdancing to almost dictate who he is friends with, he cherishes this hobby which has brought him a group to feel that he belongs to, which is seen by the extensive amount of time he spends with his breakdancing crew. In addition, Minh identifies himself as part of the “Dronez Crew” which also signifies that being a part of a group is important to Minh because this crew name is even a part of how he identifies himself besides the material folklore seen by his attire of breakdancing style
