Have you ever tried to walk two moons? If you have, you might want to stop chasing the white rabbit. Now, reading Walk Two Moons is more plausible. This book is about a young girl’s struggle to overcome loss and familial issues. This girl, Salamanca Tree Hiddle, more commonly “Sal”, has gone through a lot in her story, and undergone many changes, which is what this is about. Her friend, Phoebe Winterbottom, started to change Sal’s way of thinking of people. Phoebe herself is paranoid about many things that she cannot explain, so accompanied with a big imagination, she paints the world around her in ways so ridiculously sound that even Sal began to believe them. The book reads, “‘I’m going to search for clues, for evidence that the lunatic was here and dragged my mother off.’” Phoebe comes up with crazy things to accompany minor details. The story also states, “‘Each time I went into that house I noticed new things. It was a scary place.’” Phoebe’s ramblings of little things in that house convinced Sal that all those design aspects were true threats. The book mentions, “‘I didn’t want to blame her. She was my mother, and she was part of me.’” She speaks her thoughts, and through that, she realizes that it's not her nor her mother’s fault. Accidents happen, and she can accept that. The story states, “‘...I know, by myself and for myself, that she was not coming back’” Sal finally completely accept the loss of her mom, so she no longer needs to obsess over the small hope of her mother's return. Overall, Sal gets that it is not her fault nor her mom’s fault for what happened, and she can acknowledge with a certainty that life will go on without her
