Food Inc. is an excellent American documentary that examines the cooperate farming that takes place in the United States of America and produced by Director Robert Kenner and done with the help of Eric Schlosser’s book “Fast Food Nation” by Richard Lobb on April 3, 2009. Because of this documentary film, Robert Kenner received an Academy Award nomination on February 2, 2010. This film makes us think more about what is in our food and what do we really eat. 50 largest food producing companies refused to be interviewed for this film which makes me question why they wouldn’t want to stand with themselves against finding truth behind our food that is produced by them.
The food industry now is run by few companies like Tyson, Perdue, and more that are big and successful now. These companies’ success is all because of their marketing and technology. Every day, people buy their burgers and meat from fast food restaurants without really knowing the reasons behind their food being really cheap compared to buying fruits or vegetables from the markets. This documentary exposed everything and displayed exactly how people will do anything for their business to rise, even if it something harmful and unsafe. Although cows normally eat grass, but they are shifting them to eat corn because it’s much cheaper for them and it requires less land. And although the corn is really dangerous for the cows because it causes e-coli in their digestive system but still, the companies only care for the profit. Another important issue is that in order for the corn to be fed to the cattle, it must be planted, fertilized, harvested, and transported. This process produces greenhouse gases.
