-French Revolution Britannica. The French Revolution or the Revolution of 1789 shook France thoroughly. This revolution was by far the bloodiest and most significant by far. Caused by unfair systems, social structure of the West, Enlightenment thinkers like Voltaire, and much more this revolution started with the significant storming of the Bastille, and prison in France. The revolution raged on from 1787 to 1799, a twenty-two year revolution between the Third Estate and the First and Second Estates. During this revolution someone named Maximilien Robespierre took over and started what is known as the Reign of Terror killing thousands. Finally in 1799 Napoleon Bonarparte took over and ended the revolution. -Great Depression It all
