As Bryant reflects upon his life he is very blessed to be where he is today. Bryant came from a family that did not have much, and there was not any source of steady income. He grew up in a rough environment where he was forced to experience gang violence, drugs, and a neighborhood that never ceased to be “normal.” Bryant came from Louisiana or otherwise known as the murder capital. Bryant stayed in Louisiana until the age of three, then he moved to the state of Georgia. In Georgia, Bryant attended school from first grade until eight grade. Bryant’s mother and father were together at the time, but things took a turn for the worse. His parents split and Bryant did not take the news of his parent’s divorce lightly. Getting in trouble daily. However, the main reason for his reckless behavior at school was mainly correlated to him not knowing how to deal with the stress of his unstable home life. Due to the fact, that his father was in jail for murder and his mother was badly addicted to drugs. This left Bryant to have to care for his brother and sister alone. Furthermore, Bryant’s father was in jail for ten years and his mother was on drugs, which left Bryant, his brother, and his sister at home alone for two weeks or more. Thus, Bryant had to find out how to feed his brother and sister every night. This caused Bryant to not do very well in school and to be held back a year for his failing grades. One month had pasted, and Bryant’s mother had not been home. So he decided to call his grandma. His grandma told him the same thing, that she had not heard nor seen his mother in a month. His grandmother began calling everyone she knew asking if they had heard from or seen Bryant’s mother, but there was still no luck in finding her. Two weeks had past, and Bryant finally got a phone call from the police station. It was a call from his mother. Though his mother was in jail, Bryant was relieved that she was ok.
