Bud, Not Buddy It's that time again, but in the modern era. Bud is old enough to drive now. Blacks, and whites are no longer segregated. Last, Bud has a younger sister. They are both trying to find their dad. They don't have any luck yet. Bud's mom is pretty sick as well, but they have hospitals, so she can be treated. ''Bud, Not Buddy,'' is a book about a boy named Bud. His mom is dead, and he is looking for his father. Bud goes through some towns, and tries to get on a train. He doesn't make it, so he tries to walk. A little bit later, it was dark and a car pulled up, and eventually got bud in the car to take him to Grand Rapids. They go meet Lefty's grandchildren, and is then on the road for Grand Rapids. They get to Grand Rapids, and find what Bud thinks is his dad. He is 17, and has a driver's license. That's good, because if his mom gets sick, he can take her to the hospital if needed, but if it was in the GD, Bud wouldn't be able to drive, which he couldn't in chapter 11. He can also drive to work, or just go places with friends. I think that it's great that Bud can drive. It's better than not being able to drive. The best thing of all, is that blacks, and whites aren't segregated anymore. So, they all have equal rights. Blacks can also own property or businesses, unlike back then, like it was in the whole story. Lastly, they can go to the same places, like bathrooms, and stores. Lastly, Bud has a sister, and he didn't in the Great Depression. Bud's sister is real nice, and careful. She also helps out with Janet, Bud's mom. So, when Bud goes to work, his sister can watch her, until Bud gets home. The good think is, is that they both know what they're
