The reporter stated Lakirah called her grand father and he came to pick her up. Ms. Cullop stated that Lakirah stayed with her grandfather for the night and when her mother got off this morning she went to pick the child up. The reporter stated when the child and her mother got home, Mrs. Bryant whipped her with the same strap and Mr. Bryant, punched her down stairs, and threw a metal trash can at her. Ms. Cullop stated law enforcement was called to the school to take the child’s statement and they have also taken pictures of Lakirah’s bruises.

Jamie Nabozny was a typical middle school student who happened to be gay. The bullying started with some students calling him pejorative (CRAFT) names behind the teacher’s back, and sometimes, right in front of the teacher’s face. He put up with it for some time until attempting to commit suicide. He had to have his stomach pumped while his mother stood by with no idea of how how to help her son. Nabozny’s mother spoke to the middle school principal who dismissed her claims saying “boys will be boys”.

Ashley and Rachel were both bullied by their classmates, but in different ways. We know this because on page five of “Fan Club” Rona states, “That was when Laura saw that they were all wearing little white cards with a fat frizzy, hairy figure drawn on the front, what did it mean? It was the summer after eighth grade, a year of pretty terrible bullying at a brand new school. I had just lost touch with my best friends-- the kids I’d known since Kindergarten-- and once I became a target, I was blacklisted and was abandoned by the new friends I’d made. My parents didn’t know I was bullied or that I was struggling with very severe depression and anxiety and, honestly, they didn’t try very hard to figure out what was going on.
