Violence is unacceptable We are living in a turbulent world. On average, there are about 150,000 deaths every day because of diseases, old age, traffic accidents, and especially violence. The data from FBI indicates that in 2013, an estimated 1,163,146 violent crimes occurred in America, and somebody commits a hate crime every hour ("Violent Crime”). The fact that more and more gruesome murders happen shows that we are living in fear of violence, and this violence is unacceptable. FBI’s Uniform Crime Reporting Program states that, “violent crime is composed of four offenses: murder and non-negligent manslaughter, rape, robbery, and aggravated assault,” ("Violent Crime”). Joel’s friends victimized him every day, but his school only had a meeting with the perpetrator’s parents to reprimand them. It didn’t improve his situation. Also, Joel’s mother should have been more concerned and been closer to him. Joel was only twelve, so he needed the concerns from his family, school and society. The Board of Education needed to be responsible for the death of Joel Morales, and the four bullies must be punished. Current laws assign that “everyone has an equal standing under the law," that means everyone has the same rights. Anywhere, the crimes of hate and violence cannot be pardoned. No one or group has special rights over other people. From these sad stories, we need to understand that gays, wimps or invalids are as human as anybody else; thus, we have to respect, love and treat them fairly.
Matthew and Joel died in pain, and they are victims of violence. Violence makes our life become death and grief. It has stolen man’s humanity and made everyone become merciless and wicked. Why people beat, treat savagely, shame or kill each other while we are living together in this Earth? We need to act to prevent violence. We are human but not wild animals. That’s how we take care of our life, our children’s life and this
