About 20% of teens all over the world suffer from a certain type of anxiety disorder and scientists are noticing an increased level of anxiety(“Teens Are Feeling More Anxious Than Ever”). Oral presentations are one of the things that teens and children with a type of anxiety called, social anxiety, aka social phobia, or are even subjected to bullying, fear. One of the things that are told to students by teachers is that they will have to present reports, projects, etc. or they get a grade that is unsatisfactory. Not everyone may pay much attention to it, some people may shrug, some people may complain endlessly, but then there are the people who can’t help but become nervous and worried about all the different things that can go wrong. While it may not be the highest percentage, this is only the kids who have reported it and bullying still shouldn’t be done. If a student is being bullied, it is almost certain that they wouldn’t enjoy talking in front of the people that make their life harder. Even afterwards, when it is all over and they can take a breath, all that runs through their mind are things such as, “What were they thinking?”;“They were probably judging me”;“I stuttered a lot and I think I saw some of them laugh”; etc., therefore causing the stress to continue on even after the …show more content…

In college, oral presentations will be needed as well so starting at a young age and performing presentations throughout high school would be highly beneficial to the students, preparing them for what is to come. Presentations may also be needed to land that dream job. It may also be argued that there are many students who can go through the school day participating and presenting like it is no big deal. However, there are many students who don’t want to participate more than they have to to pass, picking their moments of participation when they have a sudden burst of confidence. Though even then, raising their hand and answering a question out loud can be scary if it is someone who is in a shell and scared to speak out. Other solutions to this problem, instead of simply not having children present, is letting them choose if they want to present or do extra credit work. Maybe they can write more or have to reach higher expectations on the project or report then the students who choose to get in front of the class. Another solution is maybe a one on one presentation with the teacher, while it still may scare the teen, it won’t be as bad as having more than one set of eyes on
