School Shootings
On April 20, 1999 two columbine seniors went to school with guns, knives, and bombs concealed beneath their trench coats and opened fire on their classmates and teachers. In less than an hour the detonated thirty handmade bombs, shot and killed twelve students and a teachers, and injured twenty-three others. Society needs to fix the problem of school shootings.
A School shooting is when a shooter enters a school and tries to kill as many people as they want teachers, staff, and students. In the book students in danger it stats that “ out of 7 students reported being victimized approximately 20% reported that they had bullied other students with the same frequency” (Simons 19). These are some reasons that could result in a school shooting if schools limit these factors then it might be a safer place. There are many shootings that happen one example is “ On April 20, 1999 two high school seniors, Eric and Dylan, opened fire of their classmates in Jefferson county killing 25 people.” ( Gerdes 13). This was one of the worst school shootings. The two shooters entered the school with bombs and guns. At this time this shooting was the deadliest shooting with 25 people dead and 22 wounded. Another example is Virginia tech campus. “ On April 16, 2007, Seung-Hui Cho opened fire on the virginia tech campus in blacksburg, virginia killing 33 people.” ( Simons 35). This shooting was also really bad from when the students heard the shooting till it stopped there was 33 people dead including Cho. Cho had sent a package to NBC news that contained a 1,800- word essay, photos, and 27 digitally recorded video, in which Cho compared himself to Jesus
