To begin, Visual Culture is “a field of study that is concerned with visual events in which information, meaning or pleasure is sought by consumer in an interface with visual technology.” (Iglesias, CCS 400 Lecture 1 January 23) Visual Culture is important in my life because the world around me is incorporating more online media and websites in order to communicate. For example, my professors use Blackboard or online articles to be able to communicate to their students on the topic they are learning about. It is much easier to use technology than to not use it. I did not last a day; I felt very “empty” and incomplete without my phone or laptop. I was unaware of what was going on in the world, and it bothered me because I enjoy being informed and aware. However, even though I would panic and be stressed, I would be able to survive in some areas. Most of my visual technology is used for recreational activities (such as my 3DS or Kindle) so they are not crucial items that I need in order to be successful in my life. My laptop and phone are the most crucial items to be able to succeed. For example, I use my laptop to take notes in class. An alternative to this would be to write notes on a piece of paper, so that would not be a huge issue. Additionally, instead of using the internet to look up sources, I would go to the library and use books. If my professors had no PowerPoints, I would have to listen closely to be able to take notes, which is not an issue unless the professor relies on the PowerPoint, and cannot lecture without
