Bullying happens because of the bully wanting to assert his or her power, and having control over the victim, stemming from their own insecurities and need for validation. Nevertheless, the impact of bullying can be incredibly harmful for the victims, shattering their confidence is what inevitably ties into falling into depression. Some children even teens have learned to bully from others, such as parents, brothers/sisters, or friends. People have seen others getting in someone 's way by being angry or pushing other people around. They believe that by putting someone in fear, they will have the best shot at everything. There is a significant difference between finding reasons and looking for excuses. The reasons why a child becomes a bully does not justify their misbehavior, but perhaps they will help us to understand it. Homophobic bullying occurs when people behave or speak in a way that makes someone feel inferior because of their actual or perceived sexuality. Those who may be targeted to this type of bullying differentiate in their appearance, their behaviour and other physical traits or sometimes they have friends or family who are gay, lesbian, bisexual, or transgender. The image of the ‘ideal’ family became the norm for everyone to compare their lives with. The women were happy homemakers who enjoyed cleaning and caring for the children while their husbands went off to work.
From the perspective of a bully, they seem to not care about the harm they’re doing to someone else, they do it for fun and really don’t think it through. Although, some bullies do it because they have personal problems themselves and try to hide their emotions so they go to making someone else feel the same way they feel. But even there, they don’t see it as anything serious. Now, in perspective of the victim, they are very affected by the harm they receive from someone else. Teens who go through situations like bullying try to avoid it as much as they can because sometimes it’s too overwhelming.
Long-term effects of bullying Bullying is an ongoing dilemma that we face in todays society. It can be defined as one being intimidated, or victimized when an individual is exposed numerously over an extended period of time, to negative actions of seemingly more powerful individuals. Bullying is common in the adolescent years, whether you are the victim or the aggressor. According to this article, up to 35% of adolescents globally report to being bullied during their lifetime, and 32% report to bullying others.

Most people know that bullying hurts. So what kind of child would do this to others? Shouldn’t parents, teachers, and school administrators get to the root of why some kids feel the need to bully others? When the bully takes it too far, the victim snaps and retaliates by fighting him/her back physically or verbally.

Many people believe that bullying is part of life, happens in all schools and so it’s not an issue to worry about and that it lets individuals know what life is all about as it toughens them but in reality bullying is a detrimental problem that affects most school going children and teenagers physically, emotionally and socially.
