• Is blood drops/spatter present elsewhere apart from the victim’s body
• Are there signs of a struggle
• Are there any kind of footprints visible anywhere especially in the blood stained areas

Preparation of the crime scene sketch is the next job of a CSI. Most CSIs will prepare the rough sketch at the spot and completes a full detailed sketch back at their workplace. While preparing the rough sketch, the CSI must take utter care to see that the rough sketch must not contain anything more or less than the final report. The assistant in the crime scene investigation has the role to assist the CSI with the measurements and finally the report may be revised by the same for any corrections if he thinks is required in the document.

Carrying out a Complete Enquiry

A detailed search is required at the crime scene as the next step of investigation. Each nook and corner of the location must be revisited by the CSI in order to get even the smallest piece of evidence, if any. The pertinent evidence must be kept uncontaminated until it can be recorded and collected. A prosecution to be successful, the evidences must be in a condition that can be relied upon as an evidence. A crime scene must be protected by the police officers by sealing the entire location from public entry. This protection ends when the scene is released from the police custody.
