¨ It`s not the future you're afraid of. It`s repeating the past that makes you anxious ¨ -unknown . What is fear? Is it not knowing what will happen next ? One wrong decision could ruin your whole life. Or is it something worse? Could we learn that fear is just something else trying to hold you back.Maybe as humans we need to learn fear as is just another reason to try harder. In maya angelou's poem ¨caged bird¨ we see one person who is afraid of what's to come and another person who is brave and trying to live life to the fullest. I Think this because in stanza three it says ¨The caged bird sings with a fearful trill of things unknown¨. This line means that the person being spoken about (the bird) is afraid of what his/her future may hold. I also believe this poem is about fearing what you don't know because in stanza 5 it says ¨His wings are clipped and his feet are tied so he opens his throat to sing¨. This line is saying that the person is afraid of the future and won't try new things.

I believe Mother to son by langston hughes is about is about being afraid of the unknown. I think this because it says “Don't you set down on the steps ‘cause you find it's kinder hard. Don't you fall down now” This line means once you stop it's harder to start again and you may get set back.
I also think this poem is about fear of the future because it says “and sometimes going into the dark where there ain't no light”. This line means they are afraid of their current position in life and are afraid of what will happen
