The Lost Chapter: Buck’s Fate The bitter cold rushed as the wind whispered passed. Buck had a hard time getting comfortable and sleeping. Too much was on his mind, many thoughts came after him one after another, thoughts of the past popped up in his mind. He was unsure with these thoughts, a part of him wanted to suppress his thoughts and his feelings towards them, another part of him makes him want to venture off into these feelings. As Buck laid there unsatisfied, he watched the dark sky with the silver stars dance, the tall trees sway with the wind. With one big sigh, Buck fell asleep. With the sound of a whistle, Buck was up. Thornton waved goodbye as Buck and the man headed north away from the camp. Buck continued to replay the memory of John trading Buck for the money. For the next four hours, Buck was shaking his head every time that memory replayed, and whimpered as if he was in pain from time to time. Until it was about 8 PM, the tall man looked for a place to sleep. After, the man went towards Buck and in a loud, stern voice he said,“ Allow me to introduce myself, although you wouldn’t understand, my name is Tom Jenkins and I will be your master from here on out. Once we arrive to the city your job is to fight, I’ve heard about you, I know you can fight. So my ol’ boy Buck, bare with me on our journey to fortune”. Buck was not sure how to feel about this, flashbacks of his fight with Spitz came into his mind, He remembered how good it felt to defeat him, he then realized he was only satisfied because he defeated an enemy, not a stranger.
